20 iPhone Tricks You Might Not Have Known

Whether you’re an iPhone rookie or a pro, these quick-and-easy iPhone tricks might not only save you time, but increase your iPhone experience as well.
1. Zoom out Faster
Instead of pinching your fingers across the screen to zoom out, just tap two fingers twice on the screen at the same time to get the same effect.
2. Quick Scroll
To quickly scroll to the top of a website, just tap the bar at the top and the iPhone will automatically scroll back up.
3. Domain Typing
When going directly to a known website, drop the “www” and the “.com” when typing in the address bar. For example: Type “bluefaqs” to go to “www.BlueFAQs.com”. Safari will fill in the “www” and “.com” for you.
4. Fast Delete
To quickly delete emails and text messages, just swipe your finger across the right side of the screen to bring up the delete option.
5. Special Characters
Hold down certain letters to bring up alternate characters. For example: Hold down the A,N,E and other keys to bring up a list of special characters. Just roll your finger over to the desired key to select. This also works with the “.com” key to bring up “.edu .gov … etc.
6. Take a Screenshot of Anything
Press the Home button and Sleep button at the same time and release quickly to take a screen shot of anything you desire. This includes video.
7. Save any Image from Safari
Hold down on any image in Safari to bring up the option to save. See a picture you like? Save it and turn it into a wallpaper.
8. Easy iPod Controls
Double tap the home button at anytime to bring up iPod controls. This works even if you haven’t keyed in your password.
9. Soft Reset
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep button to restart your iPhone. A white light will flash, the screen will shut off and then come back on. Keep holding until the screen turns back on. This works great if you’re frozen in some application or if the apple symbol wont go away.
10. Finish a Sentence
To quickly add a period, just double tap the space bar and a period will drop in place along with two blank spaces preparing you for the next sentence. Double tapping the space bar also drops in correctly spelled words when the iPhone tries to correct your spelling.
11. Add Personalized Icons to your Homepage
Go to your favorite website, one that you want to add to your home screen. Zoom in on a picture that represents that website to you. Now hit the plus button at the bottom of the screen and choose “Add to Home Screen”. Now type a name for the site and click add at the top of the screen. That picture will now represent an icon for that website on your iPhone.
12. Where is that Link Taking You?
Hold down any link for about 2 seconds to bring up a small bubble that tells you the exact address of the link.
13. Keep Track of Your Minutes via Free Text
There is an easy way to check your minutes, pay your bill, and several other services. Just click settings>Phone>AT&T Services (you’ll have to scroll up to see this selection). Choose an option and receive a free text message with the info your after.
14. Get Scientific
When in your calculator, turn the iPhone to landscape mode to trigger a scientific calculator.
15. Conserve Battery
The iPhone likes to eat up its battery, here are a few things you can do to keep a charge. Turn WiFi off unless in use. The iPhone is constantly searching for a signal when turned on. The 3G network will eat up your battery too, turn it off in network settings unless you need it for surfing. Keep your brightness at 60%. The iPhone is pretty bright, bright enough to have flashlight app’s over in the iTunes store. Turn the brightness down so you can keep your battery life up.
16. Don’t call 411
Use your GPS to directly call almost any business. Scroll to the general area of where the business is located (just putting the city in the view is good enough) type in “Pizza” for example to bring up pizza places in that area. Click on the red pin of the one you selected to bring up a phone number, web address, and directions. Don’t worry about writing the number down, just press it to initiate a phone call.
17. Clear Your History
Free up RAM and speed up the phone by clearing your history, cookies and cache. Go to Settings>Safari (scroll to the bottom for the options)

19. Move Your Icons Around
Hold down on any Icon to bring up the option to move or delete. Simply drag the icon to the desired place (this includes a different page) or press the “x” to delete it.
20. The Hidden Button on Your Headphones
That’s right there is a button on the microphone of the headphones that came with your iPhone.
