How to Show Hidden Files and Folders
Posted on 16. Feb, 2009 by Shawn Ramsey in Misc
By default your computer will hide some files and folders that it thinks you don’t need access to. This is a security feature to prevent a user from accidentally deleting a crucial system file or folder. Occasionally there is a need for a user to access these files. Here is how to make these files and folders visible. This same concept works in Windows XP as well. Note: If you are looking for your AppData folder in to fix your Limewire connection, then you are in the correct place.
Showing Hidden Files and Folders:
1. Get into the Control Panel. Start>ControlPanel
2. Find the Folder Options icon and double click it. *Vista users should click the classic view in the upper left-hand corner of the Control Panel to make the Folder Options icon visible. (refer to the picture below)
3. In the Folder Options at the top you should see General, View, and Search. Choose View and in the Advanced Settings window look for “Hidden files and folders.” Click the radio button next to “Show hidden files and folders.” (refer to picture below)
You’re Done! You can now view all files and folders on your computer. It is recommended to change this back to the original settings after you are done editing.
