Photoshop Polaroid Template with Vintage Adjustment Layers

Photoshop Polaroid Template

I read a short article recently asking other designers what they did with their design scrap. It was an excellent question that got me to thinking about my leftover designs. Specifically the ones that were built for one-time use, but could easily be revamped into a useful resource for others. Since just about everyone likes freebies, I decided to dig into my scrap designs and see what I could give away here on the site.

You’re probably thinking, oh great another Photoshop Polaroid template. But, before you run off, let me explain a few of the details that I’ve added to this particular .PSD that help to make it a bit more resourceful.

Below you can see a scaled down version of the Polaroid template. In full, it measures in at 1051px X 1285px which makes it great for print media and also for the web, as it can easily be scaled down while still retaining its subtle details.

Imperfections

There are plenty of minute imperfections throughout the frame of the image. As you can see below, some bubbling has occurred in the bottom part of the frame as well as random spots of grime. There is also a hint of dirtiness throughout, as if someone has picked up the image numerous times with their dirty paws.

Adjustment Layers

One thing that separates this particular polaroid frame from many others, is the layers added in above the image itself. These adjustment and other layers were added to help give any image used within the template an instant vintage/retro look. You may wish to turn off, modify or even move these layers around (particularly the ‘Light Spot’ & ‘Highlights’ layers) to help fit the look of your particular image. Adjusting the opacity of layers can also help to nail the style you are after. Let’s take a look.

Before and After

Below you can see the original image before it’s slipped into the template and then after with the layers applied. As you can see, the image is given an instant vintage look that easily matches well with the Polaroid style. All you have to do is insert your own image in place of the one given. Enjoy and share!
